The International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) and STEMCELL Technologies are excited to announce the launch of Applying the ISSCR Standards for Research, a free, on-demand course designed to help scientists integrate the ISSCR Standards for Human Stem Cell Use in Research into their work. The course provides practical guidance to strengthen rigor, reproducibility, and responsible use of human stem cells across the research pipeline.
Developed by an international taskforce co-chaired by Dr. Tenneille Ludwig, WiCell Research Institute, USA, and Dr. Peter Andrews, University of Sheffield (emeritus), UK, the ISSCR Standards offer detailed recommendations to improve the quality, transparency, and consistency of laboratory research using human stem cells.
“This collaboration with STEMCELL Technologies expands access to the ISSCR Standards and gives researchers practical guidance to adopt them in their daily work,” said ISSCR CEO Keith Alm. “Ensuring that scientists can confidently apply these best practices is essential for advancing rigorous, reproducible research that ultimately benefits patients.”

Through interactive modules, Applying the ISSCR Standards for Research guides learners through essential considerations and reporting criteria for human pluripotent and tissue stem cell research. The on-demand course is divided into 6 sessions and a final assessment and takes about three hours to complete. Jane Savill
Manager, Scientific Support, Cell Culture
Jane Savill is a Scientific Manager in the Scientific Support Department at STEMCELL Technologies. Before joining STEMCELL, Jane obtained her PhD in Oncology from Cambridge University and worked as a Product Development Scientist for a small start-up focused on rheumatoid arthritis diagnostics. At STEMCELL, Jane manages frontline product support for our global customers and sales staff. She specializes in scientific support for hPSC cultures and oversees training in corporate and client training programs, focusing on hPSC as well as neural and epithelial products and protocols.
