Stem Cell Network announces new executive director

July 4, 2017 (Ottawa) The Stem Cell Network (SCN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Cate Murray as the incoming Executive Director. Cate is a respected public affairs professional with twenty years of experience working within Canada’s research community. Cate brings to the position a solid understanding of Canada’s science and innovation enterprise. She has worked both in and out of government providing strategic support on the development of health research policy, science funding and external affairs issues.

Andrew McKee, Chair of the SCN Board stated, “After an extensive search process, with over 40 applicants and a thorough interview process the Board of Directors assessed that Cate was by far the best candidate to lead SCN forward.” He added, “I look forward to working with her as we map out a clear and meaningful future for the Stem Cell Network.”

Over the past year, Cate has served as the Director, Communications & External Affairs for SCN and has been responsible for representing the organization with partners, government and media. She has developed strong and positive connections within the regenerative medicine sector and played a significant role in securing additional federal support for SCN.

Michael Rudnicki, SCN’s Scientific Director & CEO commented, “Cate is a strategic thinker with a positive and participatory leadership style. I am confident that her work ethic and passion for building a robust stem cell and regenerative medicine sector will be of high value for both the Stem Cell Network and our research and trainee community.” He added, “Please join me in congratulating Cate on this new position.”
