Regenerative Medicine & Cystic Fibrosis workshop
About the workshop:
Cystic Fibrosis Canada and Stem Cell Network are excited to co-host a virtual workshop focused on “Regenerative Medicine and Cystic Fibrosis”, that will run over two half-days, June 28 and 29, 2021. The workshop is designed to connect researchers working across a range of disciplines with the goal of exploring the key issues and challenges that remain in delivering regenerative medicine-based therapies for cystic fibrosis (CF). The workshop will include talks from expert speakers outlining CF disease modeling, the potential for cell and gene therapy solutions, as well as considerations for the clinical translation of new therapies. CF patient representatives will speak regarding the impacts of CF and the importance of exploring cell and gene therapy routes for new treatments. In addition, the event will feature discussions sessions to evaluate the strengths and challenges of regenerative medicine strategies for treating CF.
Dates and times:
Monday, June 28 and Tuesday, June 29, noon to 4 p.m. (Eastern Time, US and Canada)
Who should attend?
The workshop is open to principal investigators and trainees the regenerative medicine and gene therapy fields who are interested in learning more about cystic fibrosis and the challenges and opportunities of developing cell and gene therapy approaches for inherited diseases.
Day 1 (Monday, June 28):
- Session 1: Introduction to CF and Disease Modelling
- Session 2: Cell and Gene Therapy: Background and Applications in the Lung
Day 2 (Tuesday, June 29):
- Session 1: Translating Cell and Gene Therapies to the Clinic: Lessons for CF
- Session 2: CF Patient Perspectives and Discussion Panels.
End of day Wednesday, June 23, 2021
