For the Trainee/HQP Abstract Competition

Trainee/HQP* abstracts submitted by Thursday, July 30, 2026, 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time, will be included in the abstract competition for:

• Travel awards
• The Drew Lyall Award of Excellence
• Oral presentation in a plenary session
• Oral presentation in an Under the Microscope session

All trainee/HQP abstracts submitted by Thursday, July 30, 2026, will be assessed by the Abstract Review Panel. The Scientific Program Committee will confirm the Drew Lyall Award winner, oral and poster presentations, and travel awards.

*Trainee/HQP is defined as an undergraduate or graduate student, post-doctoral fellow, research associate, technical staff or clinical research staff.

For General Abstracts

The deadline for general abstract submission is Wednesday, September 23, 2026, 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. 

Abstract submission may be closed earlier without notice once all poster spots are assigned.

Abstracts submitted by non-trainee authors will be considered for poster presentation only. Invitations for non-trainees to make oral presentations in a plenary session are issued by the Scientific Program Committee.

Abstract Writing Webinar

The Stem Cell Network’s Trainee Communications Committee hosted a skill development webinar led by Dr. Geoff Hicks, University of Manitoba, focused on improving abstract writing ability. During this 30-minute webinar, Dr. Hicks provides insights and tips on writing a good abstract. This webinar is highly recommended for anyone planning to submit an abstract for presentation at the Till & McCulloch Meetings!

Abstract Format

Title, presenting author, full author list*, institution name(s) and address(s) will be required.

Abstracts are limited to 250 words; figures and tables are not allowed. Title and author list etc. are not included in this 250-word limit.

Abstract titles should use sentence case (i.e., only the first letter of the title should be capitalized), not bolded and not underlined.

The body of the abstract should be in a single paragraph. If subheaders are used, they should be within that single paragraph in all-caps, not bolded (e.g., METHODS).

*For trainees submitting an abstract, the full author list should include at minimum the name of the supervising Principal Investigator as well as the name of the trainee.

Poster Presentations

Full instructions regarding poster presentation will be provided to all those selected.

Conference Registration

To submit an abstract, you do not need to register immediately for TMM.

However, for an abstract to be included in the 2026 Till & McCulloch Meetings program, the presenting author of that abstract must be registered to attend the 2026 Till & McCulloch Meetings. Therefore, we ask those submitting an abstract to make sure they are registered by the Early Bird registration deadline of Wednesday, September 16.
