Training the Next Generation of Canadian Talent
SCN training equips Canada’s regenerative medicine community with the skills needed to lead, innovate, and translate discovery into impact. Serving Canada’s regenerative medicine community from HQP to investigators, our training program builds essential skills across four pillars: Core Skills for Academia, Foundational Skills for Industry, Commercialization of Research, and the Art of Clinical Translation.
All Training Opportunities
Status: Open
Single-Cell & Spatial Omics in Regenerative Medicine
Explore the latest advances, practical applications, and Canadian research infrastructure supporting single-cell and spatial omics in regenerative medicine.
The goal of the series is to help trainees understand the different careers available outside of academia, the skills required for certain positions, and some of the daily functions of those positions.
Aims to pair the brightest graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with RM-focused biotech companies that are moving innovative therapies and technologies into the marketplace.
Postdoctoral Fellowship in Regenerative Medicine for Multiple Sclerosis
Attract and retain promising post-doctoral scientists to work at the intersection of stem cells, regenerative medicine, and multiple sclerosis (MS). This award is two years in duration and is intended for those in a relatively early stage in their post-doctoral career.
Doctoral Research Awards in Social, Ethical, and Economic Implications for Regenerative Medicine
Support promising Ph.D. students in Canada who are conducting Social, Ethical and Economic Implications research focused on addressing the complex challenges and opportunities presented by the development and application of regenerative medicine technologies.
Attract new qualified, promising post-doctoral scientists entering their professional career in the T1D research field to join the Breakthrough T1D Centre of Excellence.
Provide new skills to researchers, including MSc/Ph.D. students, post-doctoral fellows, research associates, technicians, and newly independent investigators, and to build new links between UK- and Canada-based scientists.
The Stem Cell Network International Travel Awards Program gives trainees / Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) the opportunity to communicate their work internationally and contribute to the visibility of Canadian research abroad.
"The Stem Cell Network's training program is like none other in Canada. From workshops to fellowships to opportunities to participate on committees and in conferences, SCN provides trainees and early career researchers with opportunities to advance their careers, establish networks, and meaningfully engage in Canada's stem cell and regenerative medicine."
Dr. Mohsen Afshar
Co-founder and CTO, TissueX Technologies
"Ultimately, the training I received over the years helped me co-found TissueX Technologies to commercialize a technology that was developed in the laboratory setting for commercial use in drug discovery."
Dr. Anastassia Voronova
Assistant Professor, University of Alberta
"SCN training gave me valuable hands-on and theoretical skills that I was able to apply to my own projects. Now that I have my own lab, I am imparting this acquired knowledge upon my own trainees."
